Nigeria midfielder, John Obi Mikel, was in action for 90 minutes in the London derby on Sunday as his club, Chelsea FC, secured a vital win over Arsenal at latter’s home ground at the Emirates.

Mikel was booked in the 72nd minute of the encounter but that will by no means diminish the three points secured by the Blues in the derby clash.
Chelsea striker, Diego Costa, scored the only goal of the game shortly after Per Mertesacker was sent off as Arsenal missed the chance to return to the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners are now third on the standings behind Leicester and Manchester City.

With this defeat, Arsenal are just two points separate them from North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in fourth, while Chelsea, who are still unbeaten under Guus Hiddink, climb a place to 13th and put seven points between themselves and the bottom three.
Interestingly also, Mikel’s record of never losing a match under Hiddink who is on a second stint at Chelsea remains intact.
In the day’s earlier game, Francesco Guidolin’s tenure as the new head coach of Swansea City got off to a winning start at the expense of Everton, who slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of their Welsh visitors.
Before Sunday’s win, Swansea had never beaten their Merseyside hosts in 21 league outings. But first-half goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Ayew broke that jinx, moving them four points above the relegation zone in the process.
