Troops Engage Boko Haram Terrorists In Babangida Town

Gallant soldiers of the Nigerian army, engaged Boko Haram terrorists who invaded Babangida town, in Yobe state.

The insurgents reportedly attacked the community located in Tarmowa local government area of Yobe state, in the early hours of Sunday, January 24.

According to Daily Trust, the sect members were chased away by vigilant soldiers who stood their grounds. told newsmen that the assailants parked their vehicles at the outskirt and sneaked into town on foot and motorcycles.
“Fortunately enough, the security forces were fully aware of their plan. They engaged them in serious gun battle that lasted for hours before the military thwarted their attack plan.
“But an old man was killed by the insurgents outside his tent before they burnt down the shed; his neighbours said he was trying to escape when the militants saw him,”Khalil noted.
Another resident told the newspaper that there were apprehensions of possible attack on the town the day before as “the boys (militants) were sighted at Sassawa Saturday afternoon. We alerted security operatives but nothing was done.”
The resident who spoke under anonymity, said that the militants had burnt two patrol vehicles of policemen in the town.
In a related development, there are reports that the army has made a breakthrough regarding the whereabouts of the Chibok girls. It is gathered that the identity of one of the masterminds of the abduction which took place on April 14, 2014, will soon be made public subject to verification by the Nigerian army.
