Nigerian midfielder, Mikel Obi, has said that his team must ensure that they get the maximum three points from their match against Dynamo Kiev in Match day 4 of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Chelsea have four points from their three matches and are currently third in Group G behind Porto and Dynamo Kiev.
“If you can finish top of your group then you can get maybe a less tough team in the next stage of the Champions League and at the minute we need every win we can possibly have,” Mikel told his club’s official website.
Mikel has been lauded for his performances in the last three games even though Chelsea have continued to stumble with three consecutive defeats.
“We have home games against Kiev who are just above us and Porto who are the leaders and now it is time for us to win the home games and put ourselves in a very good position, but they are not easy games just because you are playing at home.
Mikel added: “We want to win tonight’s game but at the same time we must not lose so we have to come out and play well like we have been playing the last few games, and hopefully we can get the luck we haven’t had.
“Hopefully it can all come today [Wednesday]. We have to play well and take a big step towards achieving qualification. Hopefully we can get a win that we deserve.” The match kicks off at 20:45 at Stamford Bridge.
