A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who visited some recreational centres reports that the activities at the centres were very peaceful.
At the Magic Land amusement park, thousands of people were seen having fun, as parents were seen with their children enjoying the facilities there.

Master Peter Garba, who was with two siblings and parents, was visibly excited as he ran around the park, saying going to the park with his mother and father was clearly a rarity.
“I am happy that mommy and daddy brought us to the park today. They are often away at work and do not usually have time to take us anywhere,’’ he said.
The mother, Mrs Veronica Garba, a banker, explained that as parents, they owed certain duties to their children but that they hardly found time to do some of those things.
“Of course, we should take our children out and have fun more often but the time just never seems to be there.
“We are happy to be able to take advantage of this long weekend and give them the treat they have so richly deserved all this while.
“We should try and take full advantage of this opportunity because it doesn’t present itself every day and our children have the right to be happy, and this is one of the things that give them joy,’’ she said.
NAN sought to know how the security situation in the land had not appeared to have kept people back in their homes and most fun seekers proffered reasons for the huge turnout.
Mr Segun Adelekun, a visitor at the park, said that Nigerians are very practical people and that the current administration was giving security situation in the country a priority.
“For the feeling of security these days is the obvious impact the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is already having on the security situation in this country.
“The President promised us change and we are pleased that he is already delivering and security is one such example,’’ he said.
At the Millennium Park in the FCT, the story was the same as scores of people were seen enjoying the environment.
Mr Chinonso Obeta, One of the visitors to the park and a school teacher, told NAN that he was a bachelor and life needed being taken care of.
“These parks are not meant for children alone. I am a bachelor and as a young man, I have come to know the value of rest and relaxation.
“The human body is like a machine and needs to be rested from time to time, otherwise it will break down,’’ he said.
