The two catholic priests abducted by gunmen last Thursday around Issele-uku community in Delta State, were on Sunday evening released by their abductors.
Although details of their release were still sketchy as at the time of filling this report, but strong indications had that they were released unhurt and without any ransom.
Confirming their release, the Director of Communication, Issele-uku dioceses of Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Charles Uganwa told our correspondent that the priests were released unhurt and without ransom paid.
Before their release, the kidnappers had earlier established contact with the church demanding for a ransom of N100, 000, 000 for the release of the victims: a ransom described as unrealistic by the Catholic worshipers.
The priests, Rev. Fr. Franklyn Odiaka of Catholic Church of Assumption (Zappa) Asaba and Rev. Fr. Onwochei were abducted by unidentified gunmen last Thursday around Obior community axis while returning from a church event.
According to Rev. Fr. Uganwa “it is true that two of our priests were kidnapped, the kidnappers have established contact with the church and they are asking for N100, 000, 000 saying that the church was praying for their as the church would not pay any ransom because the two victims do not work for salaries.
