Arms Deal Fraud: Discharge me – Dasuki Begs Court

Former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), has filed a fresh application before Justice Peter Affen of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama, to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from prosecuting him.

Dasuki had through his lawyer, Joseph Daudu, SAN, filed the application dated January 11, 2016, asking the court to discharge him of the alleged crime of diversion of funds said to be meant for the procurement of arms for the military fighting Boko Haram.

He argued that EFCC and the Federal Government who are prosecuting him should not be allowed to continue after a “brazen disobedience” of orders of the court that granted him bail on December 21, 2015.
The ex-NSA boss filed the application in respect to the 22 counts of fraud the anti-graft agency levelled against him and others.
Others standing trial alongside Dasuki include, immediate past Director of Finance and Administration in the Office of the NSA, Shuaibu Salisu, former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, Sagir, and a firm, Dalhatu Investment.
