PM News reports that the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) chapter of the institution barricaded the entrance into the university on Wednesday, February 10. Their action paralyzed activities in the school as vehicular movement was stopped.

This is coming barely two months after Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka took over as the vice chancellor of the institution.
The staff complained that the new administration did not carry them along the same way the previous administration did. They said usually, they are informed if there will be changes in the allowance but the new administration failed to communicate with them.
“The earned allowances are paid with monthly salary. But when we received the alert that the salary has been paid, it was discovered that it was paid without the allowance.
“This we are not ready to take and that is why we have to shut down the system so as to let him know that we will not joke with our welfare. We have bills to settle and that he should know.”
The staff said this was just a warning strike which meant a full blown one could be on the way if their demand is not met.
Tunji Oladejo who is the spokesperson of the university said the strike had no justification as it was unnecessary.
